JAKARTA - The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy responded to the Citayam Fashion Week activity at the zebra cross Jalan Tanjung Karang, Dukuh Atas, Central Jakarta, which was reaping controversy.

According to Muhadjir, the fashion show event that is being loved by teenagers "SCBD" (Sudirman, Citayam, Bojonggede, Depok) is actually a creative idea from the community. However, it must pay attention to the location and the impact.

"In terms of ideas, it's good, young people's ideas must be channeled. If not, then look for a safe, more representative place. But don't let it be blocked," Muhadjir told reporters at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture's office, Friday, 29 July.

If Citayam Fashion Week in Dukuh Atas was banned, Muhadjir offered the youth "SCBD" to carry out the activity at the zebra cross in front of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture's office on Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Central Jakarta.

"In the PMK (Coordinating Ministry) office and PMK (Kemenko) page, here, it's also okay. You can use a zebra cross in front of the PMK (Coordinating Ministry office), it can be used. Go ahead. The important thing is not to smother creativity," said Muhadjir.

Furthermore, Muhadjir advised that the Citayam Fashion Week event be held without violating the applicable rules and norms.

"Don't abuse it, the fashions that do appear are proportional to the nation's personality, obey the law. Don't highlight what is actually not Indonesian cultural behavior," he said.

For information, Citayam Fashion Week activities are now causing controversy. On the one hand, this style show event can be public entertainment. But on the other hand, there are many impacts, such as long traffic jams and violations of the rules for the use of crossings.

Since some time ago, the police had also blocked the zebra crossing in the Dukuh Atas area. A number of motorized vehicles parked illegally were also disciplined. Later, Citayam Fashion Week was also protested by local residents.
