Livestock Slaughtered Due To PMK, The Government Plans To Compensate Rp 10 Million For Cows, Rp 2 Million For Goats And Rp 2 Million For Pigs

NTB - The Agriculture Office of Mataram City conducted data collection on livestock that received compensation from the government for being exposed to the mouth and nail disease virus (PMK) and then conditionally slaughtered.

Head of the Mataram City Agriculture Service, Dedy Supriadi, said that based on temporary data, the number of cattle that were conditionally slaughtered due to FMD was around 20 heads.

"Cattle that are conditionally slaughtered because of PMK are only cattle. There are no other livestock, such as goats and pigs," he said in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, quoted from Antara, Thursday, July 28.

He said the data collection and plan for compensation for conditionally slaughtered cattle as a result of the PMK was a follow-up to the evaluation meeting for handling non-natural disasters with BNPB.

According to information, the compensation that will be given by the government to livestock owners who are conditionally slaughtered due to PMK is IDR 10 million for cattle, IDR 1.5 million for goats and IDR 2 million for pigs.

Therefore, after the data collection is done, the data will be sent to the NTB Province Animal Husbandry and Health Service which will carry out verification.

"As for the compensation payment process, so far we don't know what the technicalities are. In essence, we are asked to send the data first," he said.

The Head of Animal Husbandry Division of the Mataram City Office, Drh Dijan Riyatmoko, previously said that the government's policy to provide compensation of Rp. 10 million for cows that died from the FMD virus, provided fresh air for farmers.

Related to that, his party immediately prepared various documents and official reports as evidence of the existence of cattle breeders that were slaughtered in an emergency or conditional due to the PMK virus.

The hope, he continued, is that it will also attract the government's attention because farmers who force slaughter of PMK cattle also suffer losses due to low selling prices.

"If the government plans to provide compensation for dead PMK cattle of IDR 10 million. For emergency or conditional beef cattle, IDR 3 million to IDR 5 million can be given," he said.
