ARCI Survey: Under Emil Dardak, Surabaya Walkot Eri Cahyadi Potentially Becomes Khofifah's Rival In The 2024 East Java Pilgub

SURABAYA - Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi has the potential to become a rival to Khofifah Indar Parawansa in the upcoming 2024 East Java gubernatorial election. In addition to Eri Cahyadi, the name of the Regent of Sumenep Achmad Fauzi is also included in the East Java Pilgub stock exchange.

The emergence of the name Eri Cahyadi is based on the results of the Accurate Research and Consulting Indonesia (ARCI) survey conducted on June 25-10 July 2022. In which the two young figures entered the ranks of the top five on the 2024 East Java Cagub Cawagub exchange.

Eri Cahyadi has an electability of 4.25 percent and Achmad Fauzi 2.08 percent. However, the electability of the two is still far behind the Deputy Governor of East Java Emil Elestianto Dardak at 14.6 percent. "Pak Eri and Pak Fauzi have the potential to level up to East Java, it's just a matter of how they take advantage of this opportunity," said Director of the ARCI survey agency, Baihaki Sirajt, Monday, July 25.

Based on the survey results, Baihaki continued, Eri Cahyadi's name is quite strong in the Pandalungan area which includes Pasuruan, Probolinggo, Situbondo, Bondowoso, Lumajang, Jember, and Banyuwangi. While the name Achmad Fauzi is very well known by the Madurese community.

In fact, he became the only regional head in Madura who entered the candidate exchange in the East Java Pilkada. Achamad Fauzi is also widely known by the Mataraman community.

"There are many respondents outside Madura who know Achmad Fauzi. Many people in the Mataraman area also know him. This is certainly a plus for those concerned, but extra work is needed," he said.

Baihaki explained, there are a number of factors that support the two regional heads to be widely known by the people of East Java, one of which is about their brilliant performance as regional heads. Baihaki said that the level of satisfaction of the Sumenep community with Achmad Fauzi's performance was quite high.

"Paka Fauzi has succeeded in bringing positive changes to Sumenep. For example, in the tourism sector, the community has really felt it," he said.

While other things that helped boost their electability, said Baihaki, both of them are young and have friendly personalities, like to mingle, and are diligent to come directly to greet the residents. According to Baihaki, the opportunity for Eri Cahyadi and Fauzi to increase their electability is still wide open.

"If you have good achievements and work programs, your electability can increase because people like populist leaders who can solve problems in their area," he said.

The ARCI survey was conducted on June 25-10 July 2022. ARCI used a multistage random sampling methodology with 1,200 respondents. The survey has a margin of error of -+2.8 percent with a 95 percent confidence level.
