JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR Ahmad Sahroni regretted the steps taken by those who registered the grassroots fashion movement Citayam Fashion Week to the Intellectual Property Database (PDKI) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkum HAM).

"I personally view that Citayam Fashion Week is an inclusive forum for creativity, which should be enjoyed by all people, not only certain groups; therefore, I regret the registration," said Sahroni as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 25.

In the process, he believes that PDKI and the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights will check and trace intellectual property rights very carefully.

According to Sahroni, there are several things that DJKI must consider in accepting or rejecting intellectual property registration, for example, can the name Citayam be registered because it is a regional name.

"Then, who was the original originator of the name Citayam Fashion Week? I'm sure we all know, the originator was not Baim Wong who registered his name with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. So, these things will of course be taken into consideration in making decisions whether the registration is accepted or rejected," he explained.

Sahroni also hopes that PDKI will reject the registration of Citayam Fashion Week's intellectual property by celebrity Baim Wong. The refusal aims to protect the creativity of young people from various backgrounds, he added.

Previously, DJKI Kemenkum HAM confirmed that the grassroots fashion movement Citayam Fashion Week was currently in the process of registering trademarks by two parties, namely PT Tiger Wong Entertainment and Indigo Aditya Nugroho.

"Both of them are registered in class 41 and currently their status is being published," said the Coordinator of the DJKI Brand Examiner at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Agung Indriyanto.

Agung explained that PT Tiger Wong registered for the type of entertainment services in the nature of fashion shows for entertainment services, namely providing podcasts in the fashion sector to publication of fashion magazines for entertainment purposes.

Meanwhile, Indigo Aditya Nugroho registers for services for contest selection (entertainment), expos on arts, culture and education, fashion shows (entertainment), party planning (entertainment) for promotional events, in connection with fashion shows and live stage performances.

Both registrations were received by DJKI Kemenkumham Thursday (21/7). When the two applications enter the publication period, all parties can file an objection to the application for trademark registration.

After the publication period, the two brands will also still go through several stages until they are officially registered.
