KPK Forcibly Picks Up Former Regent Of Tanah Bumbu Mardani Maming

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) searched apartments in the Jakarta area to forcibly pick up former Tanah Bumbu Regent Mardani H. Maming. The search was carried out today, Monday, July 25.

"The investigative team conducted a search at an apartment in Jakarta in order to forcibly pick up the suspect in the alleged corruption in the mining business license in Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan," Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Affairs Ali Fikri told reporters on Monday, July 25.

The forced pick-up was carried out because Mardani was uncooperative. He has been summoned twice as a suspect in alleged bribery and gratification related to mining business permits in Tanah Bumbu Regency.

The second call, said Ali, was made on Thursday, July 21. However, Mardani was also not present. "We consider the suspect to be uncooperative," he said.

Ali reminded the pretrial at the South Jakarta District Court (PN) not to stop the ongoing legal process. All parties must comply with the ongoing investigation of alleged bribery and gratification.

Moreover, the KPK has strong evidence for the allegations against Mardani. "There is no single legal basis that pretrial can stop the investigation process that the KPK is currently conducting," said Ali.

"The pretrial process is only to test the formal requirements for legitimacy, not to examine the substance of the investigation and of course we respect the process," he said.

Previously, Mardani Maming was said to have received Rp 89 billion in money in a trial for alleged bribery for a mining business license (IUP) in Tanah Bumbu Regency which was held at the Tipikor Court, Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Kalsel).

This allegation was conveyed by the younger brother of former President Director of PT Prolindo Cipta Nusantara (PCN) Henry Soetio, Christian Soetio. At that time, Christian claimed to know that there was a flow of funds to the former Regent of Tanah Bumbu Mardani H Maming through PT Permata Abadi Raya (PAR) and PT Trans Surya Perkasa (TSP).

The money transfer has been going on since 2014. The amount of tens of billions of rupiah is referred to as the amount quoted based on PT PCN's financial statements.
