Get Ready! Elementary Schools In Bantul Will Be Merged If They Meet These Criteria

JAKARTA - The Bantul Regency Government, through the Youth and Sports Education Office, issued a discourse to merge several elementary schools. This step aims for effectiveness and efficiency.

In addition, this merger is also to improve the quality of education at the school, said the Head of Bantul Disdikpora, Isdarmoko.

However, not all primary schools in Bantul will be merged. Elementary schools that will be regrouped are schools that, from the results of new student admissions (PPDB) there are less than 10 children.

"Some time ago during a meeting with elementary school principals, I said that the schools with less than ten students for PPDB are ready to be regrouped," said Isdarmoko in Bantul, as quoted by Antara, Sunday, July 24. .

"Because for example, there are only 10 students in a first grade level, if there are only 60 elementary school levels, I think it will be difficult to maintain the quality, especially for those of us who have excellence, it is very difficult, so I think it must be realistic," he continued.

He said schools that would be prioritized for regrouping with other nearby schools were those that for three consecutive years had fewer than 10 new students.

"We will look at it carefully, especially when there are less than 10 students for three years in a row, it will be a priority first, and this is what we continue to look at, yesterday what we saw was only this year," he said.

He said that in the PPDB for the 2022/2023 school year, there are quite a number of elementary schools in Bantul with only a dozen students, in fact there are around 60 schools.

"But we see that three years in a row less than 10 will be a priority, and we have coordinated with the Regency Government both with the Regional Secretary (Regional Secretary) and TAPD (Regional Government Budget Team)," he said.

He said for schools that have been regrouped later, for teaching staff or teachers it will be decided later, then building assets will be secured and coordinated with the assets section of the Bantul Regency Government.

"Later, what is clear is that the relation with the teachers and the students will then be related to the assets that we will secure, we haven't thought about it yet, so later of course we will convey it to the assets section, and that is the authority of the regional government," he said.
