Anies Reportedly Will Meet Rizieq Shihab, Discuss What?

JAKARTA - It is reported that the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan will meet the leader of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Muhammad Rizieq Shihab, who has returned to Indonesia.

Anies will visit Rizieq Shihab's residence tomorrow. This was confirmed by the Deputy Secretary General of the Alumni Brotherhood (PA) 212, Novel Bamukmin.

"Yes, that's right. Anies wants to meet HRS (Rizieq) at his residence. The plan is tomorrow at dawn," Novel said when confirmed, Tuesday, November 10.

Novel explained the reasons for the planned meeting between Anies and Rizieq. He said, Anies met in the context of friendship with the ulama who supported him during the 2017 DKI Jakarta Governor Election (Pilgub).

"It is limited to the friendship between the umara (government leaders) and the ulama. A form of longing for the umara who wants to meet the ulama. Because the figure of Anies is already attached to the ulama," said Novel.

Novel said, at the meeting tomorrow, there were also a number of community organizations that supported Anies during the DKI Pilgub, namely FPI, Alumni Brotherhood (PA) 212, and GNPF Ulama. However, the number of people in the meeting was limited.

"The meeting used health protocols," he said.

Rizieq Shihab previously arrived in Indonesia this morning after being in Saudi Arabia for more than 3 years. Rizieq Shihab was greeted by a crowd of pick-ups who filled the Terminal 3 area of Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

At Rizieq's residence in Petamburan, a crowd of supporters shouted to welcome him. They waved to Rizieq. From the top of the car, Rizieq also waved back in all directions.

Through loudspeakers, Rizieq invited his followers to carry out a moral revolution. He wanted the masses who were there to illuminate injustice. However, Rizieq did not mention the form of this injustice.

"Starting from today we will revolutionize the morals. All those who are disobedient become obedient, we embrace all injustice. The moral revolution will take us from lying to honesty. The moral revolution will bring us to the character of trust," said Rizieq.
