Citayam Fashion Week Should Not Be Held Until Late At Night, There Is Potential For Violence And Sexual Harassment Of Children

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria forbade Citayam Fashion Week to be held until late at night. This step is taken to prevent the practice of violence and sexual abuse of children.

"Don't hold activities above 22.00 WIB. This is part of the efforts of all officers to prevent violence and abuse of children," Riza said as quoted from her Instagram account, @arizapatria on Sunday, June 24.

The DKI Provincial Government will continue to be aware of the practice of violence and harassment in public spaces. "Because the number of violence against children has also increased. Online prostitution has also increased during the pandemic," he stressed.

The Gerindra Party politician advised that children who were present in the Dukuh Atas MRT Station area, Central Jakarta to take part in the euphoria of Citayam Fashion Week, could go home immediately before 22.00 WIB.

Furthermore, Riza said the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will coordinate with all parties so that underage children can create safely and comfortably.

Not only that, he advised that children and Citayam Fashion Week participants also respect other users of public facilities. Don't let them interfere with the rights of others.

"There are pedestrian rights, there are road users' rights. Our freedom is limited by the freedom of others," he concluded.

The DKI Provincial Government plans to organize and relocate the SCBD youth trend to another place. For example, in the National Monument (Monas) area, Senayan, Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), or the Sarinah courtyard.

"So we can also meet there. The important thing is not to do activities in the middle of the road and it is very disturbing and dangerous," explained Riza on a separate occasion.

Furthermore, the Deputy Governor of DKI also supports the Central Jakarta Metro Police which states that the function of the zebra crossing is a place for pedestrians to cross. Instead of being a place for catwalk fashion show activities.

"Later, celebrities, artists, and all of them who have talent in fashion shows can hold it at that location. Later we will find a place, we discussed it with all those involved. Don't walk in the middle of the road or at the zebra cross, it is very dangerous," he said.
