Sri Mulyani: Anyone Can Be A Hero, Including Those Who Died Because Of COVID-19

JAKARTA - In commemoration of the 75th Heroes' Day, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati urged the Indonesian people to keep fighting. There are three hero values that the Indonesian people must emulate.

First, said Sri Mulyani, heroes came because of challenges or trials. Every episode in Indonesian history has always presented challenges, and that's where the heroes were born.

Second, he continued, in all hero episodes there is always the word 'struggle'. Fighting is the only way to face challenges, trials and problems facing the nation and state.

Sri Mulyani assessed that the entire process to achieve one's goals requires struggles that often require sacrifices. It was there, he said, that heroism was born.

"The third element is that everyone can become a hero. On the 10 November incident, Bung Tomo as one of the heroes fought with enthusiasm and courage without worrying about his own safety. Because he was focused on that struggle," he said, during the Heroes Day event. , Tuesday, November 10.

However, said Sri Mulyani, Bung Tomo was not alone. There are many other heroes who participated in creating the spirit to fight against the invaders. Until finally able to defend the independence of the country.

"So, heroes do not fight alone," he said.

The country's treasurer said those who died because of the COVID-19 outbreak were heroes. Because of that, he invited all his ministries to pray for those who had passed away.

"They are all heroes for the Indonesian nation, as part of our journey and struggle to win the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic," he said.

For those who are now being tested for COVID-19, Sri Mulyani prayed that they could be recovered and be able to continue their activities in dealing with the pandemic. According to him, this pandemic has threatened the entire society and economy as well as the nation.

"Let us pray for mercy from the Almighty so that the condition of our nation will improve," he said.

Sri Mulyani also hopes that all people can learn lessons and learn from all heroes in Indonesia in continuing to increase their enthusiasm for facing and solving all challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
