JAKARTA - The Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan and his wife and Chairman of the DKI Jakarta PKK Mobilization Team, Fery Farhati, visited a vineyard located next to the Tenan gas station, Jalan Cakung Cilincing Raya, North Jakarta.

This vineyard is planted by residents, facilitated by the DKI Provincial Government and the private sector. Anies admitted that he was amazed by the presence of an area of about 800 square meters which was overgrown and as many as 70 varieties of grapes were ready to be harvested.

“What we see here is a real example of collaboration, how the Government plays the role of collaborator and citizens as co-creators. This was the initial initiative of a resident named Pak Sutarto, who used to guard this place, and decided to turn the shrubs into a planting area," Anies said at the location, Friday, July 22.

Anies said that this vineyard is an innovation that should be appreciated. Because, if grapes are usually cultivated in cool, shady areas, and are at a certain altitude, this is in contrast to the vineyards in Cilincing.

“What a change, this place is where we all learn how grapes are grown in Cilincing, North Jakarta. It is inconceivable how Cilincing is associated as a hot, arid area, and grapes are plants that grow in cool, shady conditions. However, 70 types of grapes are grown here,” said Anies.

Anies hopes that the grapes grown on this land can be enjoyed by all people.

“We want grapes to be a plant that can be grown and consumed by anyone, because so far grapes have been associated with expensive fruit. So, if everyone plants it, then everyone can enjoy the grapes," he said.

Anies also hopes that this vineyard in Cilincing can be a place of learning for all, about how to develop and grow grapevines in tropical temperatures, but with results that can still be enjoyed.

“This is a pilot area. We invite all community activists throughout Jakarta, take the time to stop by here, learn, then use the experience here to grow the same thing in our respective places, based on community and family, "said Anies.

Meanwhile, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Food, Maritime, and Agriculture Security Service (KPKP), Suharini Eliawati, appealed to people who want to learn and grow grapes in a limited space, can directly visit this vineyard in Cilincing which is also a Farmers Group assisted by the KPKP Office. because the grape seeds are also provided free of charge.

“It has been ordered to land owners so that there is no buying and selling, so this is all free to be distributed to people who are interested and must be maintained. In the future, we will develop it together with PKK to grow grapes in limited spaces, such as rooftops and so on," added Suharini.

For information, the vines in the vineyard called Vezo Grapes Farm have been tested for heavy metal content (cadmium and lead) at the Laboratory for Promotion and Certification of Agricultural Products, Department of Food Security, Maritime Affairs and Agriculture of DKI Jakarta Province with the results of heavy metal numbers below threshold.

The nutrition for grapes is given in the form of homemade liquid organic fertilizer. This liquid fertilizer is made from the remains of fruit and vegetables from household waste made through a fermentation process. In July 2022, the estimated number of grapes that can be harvested is 1.5 quintals.
