BARAT MANGGARAI - President Joko Widodo started his working visit on the second day by reviewing the project to develop residential facilities to support tourism areas in Kampung Baru, Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

An interesting moment occurred when Jokowi and Iriana Joko Widodo visited a kiosk as well as a homestay owned by residents. One of the homestay owners offered Jokowi a free stay.

"If you stay for free, sir," said Riyadi, who answered Jokowi's question about his Avifah Homestay rate, Friday, July 22.

Jokowi and Iriana smiled when they heard the answer. Jokowi again asked the question of how much the tourist lodge rates per night for tourists.

"One hundred thousand rupiah per night, sir," continued Riyadi.

Then, Jokowi entrusted Riyadi and also a number of owners of tourist cottages in Kampung Baru to maintain and maintain the facilities and infrastructure as well as buildings that have been repaired by the central government.

After the review, Jokowi revealed that the development of residential facilities to support the super priority tourism destination (DPSP) of Labuan Bajo through the program to improve the quality of self-help houses for cottage tourism businesses or homestays and the arrangement of villages is aimed at enabling local communities to benefit from tourism in Labuan Bajo.

"The arrangement of the Marina is not only a matter of structuring the plaza, there is an amphitheater, but also the arrangement of the village. This village arrangement is directed so that existing residences can also benefit from tourism in Labuan Bajo," explained Jokowi.

Jokowi added that the central government together with the regions are trying to repair houses in the area to be used as tourist lodges and business kiosks. This effort is expected to improve the welfare of the surrounding community.

"So, tourism in Labuan Bajo really also has benefits for the small ones, not only for the four-star and five-star or star, but the small ones can also benefit so that their welfare increases," he added.
