Police Arrest Perpetrators Of Beating And Stabbing Journalists At OKU Sumsel

BATURAJA - The Lion Ogan Resmob Team, Ogan Komering Ulu Police (OKU), South Sumatra (South Sumatra) arrested the perpetrators of the beating and stabbing of two journalists, M Yusuf and Desrizal.

We have arrested three suspects," said Head of Public Relations of the Ogan Komering Ulu Police (OKU) AKP Syafaruddin, representing the OKU Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Danu Agus Purnomo, in Baturaja, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 21.

Three suspects were arrested, namely JU (38), AN (31), and HE (23). All three are residents of Baturaja, OKU Regency.

The three suspects were arrested while they were in a crowded place in Baturaja City on Wednesday (20/7) night.

The suspect and the evidence have now been secured at the OKU Police Headquarters for further legal proceedings.

For their actions, the three suspects will be charged with Article 170 of the Criminal Code and or Article 351 of the Criminal Code regarding Beating and Persecution until the victim is seriously injured.

The incident of beating the two journalists took place on Jalan Lintas Sumatra, precisely in front of the Methodist Church, Batu Kuning Village, West Baturaja District, OKU Regency on July 7, 2022 at around 01.00 WIB.

Two victims were beaten and stabbed by an unknown person using a sharp weapon so that one of them had to undergo intensive treatment at a local hospital.

"The victim named Desrizal was treated at the hospital because he suffered three stab wounds in the back of the back, and a torn wound in the back of the head. Meanwhile, M Yusuf suffered a stab wound to the left rib," said the Head of Public Relations.
