Reason 3,000 More Garut Residents Refuse To Accept PKH Assistance

JAKARTA - As many as 3,000 more families in Garut Regency, West Java, resigned or did not want to accept the Family Hope Program (PKH) from the government.

Garut Regent Rudy Gunawan stated that thousands of families resigned because their economies were already capable and realized that there were other families who needed government assistance more.

"We give our appreciation to the more than three thousand people who previously received PKH. If people are given money they want to, but there are people who voluntarily leave PKH," said Rudy Gunawan when receiving representatives of PKH recipients at the Garut Regency Regional Secretariat, reported by Antara. , Monday, 9 November.

The Garut Regency Social Service noted that the number of PKH beneficiary families in Garut at stage 4 of the 2020 fiscal year reached 150,726 families spread across 42 sub-districts and those who resigned in 2020 reached three thousand people.

The Regent admitted that he was proud of the family that was previously on the poor list, then their economy improved until they finally chose to resign as a family beneficiary of PKH.

Garut district government, he continued, to appreciate the family will provide an award certificate signed directly by the Regent for those who leave PKH.

"We will make a certificate of appreciation, for that I am willing to sign one by one of the three thousand for those who have graduated as a form of respect from the government," he said.

The PKH Assistant Coordinator for the Samarang District, Garut added, those who resigned because they realized that they were economically independent, so they no longer needed to get government assistance.

Every year, he said, like in the Samarang sub-district, there are 20 to 30 families who have resigned and their economic life has been continuously improving.

"Every year someone resigns, because they are capable, and no longer need to accept PKH," he said.

He added, another reason they resigned from PKH was because they realized that there were other families who needed more attention and economic assistance from the government.

"Every year someone resigns, there is also new data on PKH recipients, those who resign because they think there are other residents who need it more," he said.
