GARUT - The Garut Regency Government in West Java Province has deployed officers to spray disinfectant into the homes of residents in flood-affected areas to prevent disease transmission.

"Spraying disinfectant into houses that were flooded yesterday. So after cleaning the mud, we also clean it from bacteria, germs, with disinfectant," said Garut Deputy Regent Helmi Budiman in Garut, Antara, Tuesday, July 19.

He explained that the spraying of disinfectants was carried out because the floods that hit 14 sub-districts in Garut Regency had made the residential environment dirty and muddy, and such conditions were at risk of causing disease transmission.

According to an officer from the Garut Regency Fire Department, Masyulianingsih, a team of 58 people from several regional work units was assigned to help clean up mud and garbage left over from floods and spray disinfectant in residential areas.

"To help flood victims," he said.

A resident of Ciwalen Village, Garut Kota Sub-district, Sri Nursuparti (43), is grateful that the local government has dispatched officers to spray disinfectant into residents' homes.

"Alhamdulillah, this is spraying. Hopefully it will be of benefit to my residents. I hope that in the future it will be better in the future, there will be no more flooding," he said.

The district government deployed officers to spray disinfectant in residential areas after helping residents clean the environment from mud and garbage left over from the flood.

"We clean all the places. Including today (in the area) the most (severe) were in Cimacan, Sudika, then in Ciwalen, then earlier in Paminggir. So there are three places," said the Deputy Regent.

The local government, according to him, deployed water spraying machines to facilitate the cleaning of mud and garbage left over from flooding in residential areas.

The cleaning of mud and garbage left over from floods in residential areas in Garut Regency involves officials from government agencies, the Indonesian Red Cross, and volunteers.

"This 4th day we generally clean, so there are no more places that are not clean today," said the Deputy Regent.
