Polda Metro Extends Odd-Even Removal Until November 22nd

JAKARTA - The Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya has extended the suspension of the odd-even rule for vehicle police numbers for the next two weeks or until November 22, 2020.

Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Director Kombes Pol Sambodo Purnomo Yogo said that the odd-even rule was removed due to the extension of large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) in Jakarta.

"With the extension of the transitional PSBB period for DKI Jakarta Province, the restrictions on motor vehicles with the odd-even system will still not be enforced," said Kombes Sambodo as quoted by Antara, Sunday, November 8.

Sambodo said the Polda Metro Jaya Ditlantas personnel would also analyze and evaluate the impact of the policy on traffic in the capital.

As long as the odd-even is eliminated, the Metro Jaya Polda Ditlantas will also not take action regarding odd-even police numbers, either manually or using electronic traffic law enforcement (ETLE).

The provisions for eliminating the odd-even policy came into effect to coincide with the announcement of the Transitional PSBB for the period 9-22 November 2020.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has again extended the Transitional PSBB for 14 days, starting from 9 to 22 November 2020 as a precaution against a spike in COVID-19 cases.

As a follow-up, Polda Metro Jaya also abolished the odd-even restriction policy during the Transitional PSBB in order to provide freedom to choose the mode of transportation to the community while on the move.

With the elimination of the odd-even policy, people are expected to do activities using private vehicles to avoid the emergence of the COVID-19 cluster among users of mass transportation vehicles.

The community is also asked to be disciplined in implementing 3M's behavior, namely wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands frequently.
