JAKARTA - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta has decided to extend the Transitional Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) policy for 14 days. The transitional PSBB takes effect from Monday, 9 November to 22 November.

"The extension of the Transitional PSBB is based on the Decree of the Governor of DKI Jakarta No. 1100/2020," said DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan in his statement, Sunday, November 8.

Despite deciding to extend the transitional PSBB period, the Provincial Government, according to Anies, can immediately change the policy. This is done if the level of transmission of COVID-19 is getting higher.

"As we all know, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government can implement an emergency brake policy if there is a significant increase in cases or an alarming level of transmission, thus endangering health system services," he explained.

Anies said that the current level of COVID-19 transmission in Jakarta is still relatively safe. However, people still have to apply health protocols.

"However, based on epidemiological data during the implementation of the PSBB in this Transitional Period, the condition of the Jakarta Capital City COVID-19 outbreak is more controlled and towards the safe category," he said.

"In fact, we have to be more vigilant now, not because we see the condition of transmission slows down and then become undisciplined. Remember, transmission still occurs even though it is slowing down. So, we must continue to discipline health protocols, especially 3M," he continued.

As previously, the Transitional PSBB policy was in effect from 26 October to 8 November. This policy was carried out as a precautionary measure against a spike in COVID-19 cases.
