Sexual Harassment On The Train, South Jakarta Police PPA Examines Perpetrators' Information

JAKARTA - A man suspected of sexually harassing a sleeping female passenger on the Jakarta-Bogor Electric Rail Train (KRL) has been arrested.

Pasar Minggu Police Chief Kompol David Ricardo confirmed the arrest. Now the perpetrators have been handed over and handled by investigators from the Women and Children Service Unit of the South Jakarta Metro Police.

"It has been handled by the PPA Polres (South Jakarta Metro)," said David when confirmed, Sunday, July 17.

Previously, it was reported that the attempted harassment that occurred on the Jakarta Kota-Bogor electric rail train went viral on social media. The perpetrator's action was uploaded to the Instagram account @lensa_berita_jakarta.

In the video footage, the perpetrator is seen standing in front of the train door. He was wearing a white shirt and a red hat.

Not long after, the man approached the female passenger who was sitting while sleeping. He then tried to open his pants.

Luckily, the woman woke up. So, the perpetrator gave up his intention.

Currently, the perpetrator has been arrested and prosecuted. Manager of External Relations & Corporate Image Care of KAI Commuter Leza Arlan said that from the information obtained, the harassment took place on Friday, July 15

"Security officers inside the KRL coordinated with station security officers to secure the alleged perpetrators of abuse at KRL No.4264 Jakarta Kota-Bogor relation," said Leza in a statement, Sunday, July 17.

Then, security officers took the perpetrators to the post at Pasar Minggu Station for inspection. Then hand over to the police.

"It was handed over to the Pasar Minggu Sector Police for legal processing," he said.
