BANDUNG - Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP) Suharso Monoarfa encouraged cadres who are also Plh. West Java Governor Uu Ruzhanul Ulum became a Candidate for Governor (Cagub) of West Java in the 2024 West Java Governor and Deputy Governor Election.

"If Pak Uu can become governor, can Pak Uu become governor? The term of the Deputy Governor continues, PPP has been three times, you know, Deputy Governor, right? Why not? Must be the number one person," said Suharso Monoarfa during the National Coordination Meeting. The Expert Assembly of the PPP Central Leadership Council in Bandung City quoted from Antara, Friday, July 15.

After the National Coordination Meeting of the Expert Council of the PPP Central Leadership Council, Suharso emphasized that his party would provide full support for Uu Ruzhanul Ulum to run as a candidate for Governor of West Java.

One way for Uu Ruzhanul Ulum to become the Cagub of West Java, he said, was to instruct party officials so that PPP could win 10 to 12 seats in the West Java Provincial DPRD.

If PPP's seats in the West Java Provincial DPRD can be achieved, said Suharso, PPP can nominate candidates for governor in the 2024 West Java Governor and Deputy Governor Elections.

"Hopefully we can. Why that number? That number has been achieved by PPP, while the number of seats being contested has increased," he said.

He continued, "So, actually PPP should be more than that, right. DKI has been a deputy chairman of the DPR, then in West Java he was also a deputy chairman of the DPR. Now, PPP wants to get back to that, PPP's votes are being borrowed," he said.

It is possible, said Suharso, that the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB), which consists of PPP, PAN, and the Golkar Party, will also continue in the election for the Governor and Deputy Governor of West Java.

In fact, he continued, a female politician who is also an artist, Desy Ratnasari, from the National Mandate Party (PAN) could be juxtaposed with Uu Ruzhanul Ulum to run as a regional head pair in the West Java gubernatorial election.

"It seems he (Uu Ruzhanul Ulum) wants the same Teteh (Desy Ratnasari). I don't know if he is number one or two, Desy is number one or two. We are communicating. ," he said.

Meanwhile, Plh. The Governor of West Java, Uu Ruzhanul Ulum, thanked the General Chairperson of PPP for trusting him.

Uu assessed that running as Governor of West Java was not trivial. However, he said he would start making efforts from now on related to encouragement from the leadership of the party where he belongs.
