JAKARTA - The drama for the election of the Jakarta Deputy Governor candidate has entered a new episode. The two candidates for Jakarta Deputy Governor from PKS, Agung Yulianto and Ahmad Syaikhu died. Now, PKS and Gerindra officially carry one cadre name each.

In the Gerindra faction room at the DKI DPRD, Gerindra Deputy Chairman Sufmi Dasco Ahmad read out the names of the two candidates in the agreement letter for the two parties. This letter was signed by Gerindra General Chair Prabowo Subianto, PKS President Sohibul Iman, DKI Gerindra DPD Chair M. Taufik, and DKI PKS DPW Chair Syakir Purnomo.

Although the decision of the two candidates was agreed upon by the two parties, no PKS faction representatives were present at the announcement of the two candidates for the assistant to the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan.

"This letter has approved and proposed two names, to be used as candidates for deputy governor of DKI, namely Nurmansyah Lubis from PKS and Ahmad Riza Patria from Gerindra," said Dasco at the DPRD DKI Building, Central Jakarta, Monday, January 20.

Both of these candidates have occupied legislative seats. Nurmansyah Lubis is a former chairman of the PKS DPRD DKI faction for the period 2009-2014. Meanwhile, Riza Patria is a member of Commission V DPR RI for the period 2019-2024, and also serves as the Chairperson of the Gerindra DPP.

DKI Gerindra DPD chairman Muhammad Taufik said, the two new candidates no longer need to undergo a cawagub fit and proper test. Meanwhile, the two previous candidates, namely Agung and Syaikhu, had to undergo a fit and proper test before becoming the number 2 candidate for DKI.

"No need (fit and proper test). (Candidates) are all good," said Taufik.

After this, the decision letter of the vice governor candidate will be submitted to Anies and the DPRD leadership as notification. Then, the Secretary of the Council will arrange the schedule for the joint leadership meeting (rapimgab).

In the Rapimgab, there will be ratification of the rules for the election of the Deputy Governor of DKI, the formation of a voting committee (panlih), followed by carrying out the election by voting from members of the council.

"Later in detail, the committee will arrange (the selection mechanism)," he said.

The reason for the absence of PKS

The chairman of DPW PKS DKI Sakhir Purnomo explained the reason why no PKS representatives were present at the announcement of the two names of candidates for deputy governor for DKI by the Gerindra Party. He said, the invitation given by the chairman of the DPD Gerindra DKI M. Taufik was very tight. PKS This is what makes no representatives in the event this afternoon.

"This suddenly last night, at 21.21 WIB Pak Taufik WhatsApp delivered an invitation. Even though today I have an agenda, Mr. Arifin as Chairman of the PKS Faction. There is also an agenda," said Shakir when contacted.

After accepting the invitation, this morning Shakir actually replied to Taufik's message. He asked Gerindra to rearrange the schedule for announcing Nurmansyah Lubis as a candidate from PKS and Ahmad Riza Patria from Gerindra.

"I suggest that the plan to announce the name of the deputy governor candidate to media friends is postponed first because Mr. Arifin and I cannot attend. If PKS does not appear, the impression is not compact," he explained.

However, the announcement was held in the Gerindra faction room at the DKI DPRD this afternoon. PKS can only surrender.

"But the fact is that today it has been announced. If it is already like that we will immediately coordinate, the yes is canceled? Now there are only a few shortcomings that need to be improved," he said.

The deputy governor seat of DKI has been vacant since Sandiaga Uno officially released his post on August 27 2018. He left Anies Baswedan to take part in the 2019 elections as vice president to accompany Prabowo Subianto. The Prabowo-Sandi pair got serial number 02 and lost to the pair number 01 Joko Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin.
