Waste Bank Is Expected To Eliminate Waste Production In Pontianak 360 Tons Per Day

PONTIANAK - The Pontianak City Government targets the role of the Equatorial Waste Bank to reduce waste production by 30 percent from a total of 360 tons per day. The trash can is located on Jalan Nipah Kuning Dalam, Pal Lima Village, West Pontianak District.

"Our target is to reduce 30 percent of the total 360 tons of waste produced per day so that the waste that is disposed of in the final disposal site (TPA) can be reduced and more utilized," said Pontianak Mayor Edi Rusdi Kamtono in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, quoted from Antara. , Wednesday July 13th.

The existence of the waste bank can at least reduce waste originating from surrounding sub-districts, such as Pontianak Kota, South Pontianak, or Southeast Pontianak, so that the waste to be transported to the Batu Layang TPA does not swell.

"In addition, it also reduces the traffic of the garbage fleet from the city area to the Batu Layang TPA so that it can save fuel and reduce traffic congestion," he said.

This waste bank will accommodate and collect the results from waste bank units and mini waste banks around Pontianak City. Furthermore, it is processed into raw materials or materials that can be used, such as plastic ore and composting to become fertilizer.

"The presence of this waste bank is also one of the criteria in terms of requirements for a city to get an Adipura assessment," said Edi.

He explained that in waste processing, there are two types of waste, namely organic and inorganic, for example composting that goes through a decomposition process and maggot livestock, where the waste can automatically be used for fuel and fertilizer, while inorganic waste remains as plastic ore.

"With the existence of a plastic chopping machine at the Main Waste Bank, it is possible for scavengers to bring waste here to be weighed and appreciated," he said.
