JAKARTA - Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) has asked the National Police Chief Gen. Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo to form a Joint Fact-Finding Team related to the shooting at the house of the Head of the National Police Propam Division, Inspector General Pol Ferdy Sambo.

The National Police Chief was also asked to temporarily dismiss Ferdy Sambo from his position. This was done in order to find a bright spot regarding the death of Brigadier Nopryansah Yosua Hutabarat (Brigadir J) at the two-star police general's house.

Responding to this, the Chairman of Commission III of the DPR, Bambang Wuryanto or Bambang Pacul, considered that the temporary suspension of Inspector General Pol Ferdy Sambo was still too far away. Because, Ferdy himself was not at home when the shooting incident occurred between fellow police officers.

"The act of deactivating a high-ranking officer must go through a process that is not simple, it must be a mistake," said Bambang during a press conference in the PDIP Faction room, Nusantara I Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 12.

"According to today's news, the Head of the Propam Division is not in place because he is undergoing PCR because of COVID-. While in one place for isolation, yes, the explanation until today is like that," he continued.

Thus, the Secretary of the PDIp faction again emphasized that the deactivation of Inspector General Pol Ferdy Sambo is still too far away in this case. According to him, decisions related to this case must be made carefully because the budget for the police is also very high.

"So disabling the Propam Kadiv is too far. Based on the existing news, it is too far. To become a two-star police officer, the journey is long, the state investment is also high. This must be done carefully," said Bambang.

However, the head of the legal commission asked the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and his staff to be transparent in investigating the case. Commission III of the DPR, he said, was waiting for the National Police Chief to follow up on this case.

"It can be that the Chief of Police can form another team, that's okay. There's no problem, the Chief of Police has the authority to do that.
