Residents Who Fall Into The Liabuku Baubau River Due To A Motorcycle Accident Found Dead

KENDARI - Basarnas Kendari stated that a middle-aged man who was reported missing on Monday, at 01.00 WITA, due to a fall in the Liabuku River, Bungi District, Baubau City, Southeast Sulawesi, was found dead.

The head of Kendari Basarnas Aris Sofingi said the victim named La Abu (45) was found dead by the joint SAR team.

"The victim was found at 14.30 WITA by the joint SAR team. The victim was found dead about 190 meters from the scene," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 11.

The personnel of the Joint SAR Team of the Baubau SAR Post, Baubau Fire Department, Bungi Police, Baubau PMI, Baubau BPBD, Babinsa and the surrounding community as well as the victim's family then evacuated the victim's body for burial.

He explained that the victim was a resident of Waromosio Ward, Kadomoko Village, Kokalukuna District, Baubau.

"This is a correction from our previous statement that the victim is a resident of Liabuku Village, Bungi District, Baubau. It turns out that the victim is a resident of Waromosio Ward, Kadolomoko Village, Kokalukuna District, Baubau," said Aris.

La Abu reportedly left the house using a motorbike to go to his family's house in the area on Sunday (10/7), at around 20.00 WITA.

While on his way back from the family home, at around 01.00 WITA, the victim had a single accident. The motorbike he was driving fell under the bridge and the vehicle was on the edge of the river, while the victim fell in the river until he was found dead by the joint SAR team.

"With the discovery of the victim, the SAR operation is declared complete and closed, all elements involved are returned to their respective units," said Aris.
