BUKITTINGGI - The Bukittinggi Police has deployed a Joint Team to pursue the alleged perpetrators of fraudulent animal sacrifices in a number of mosques and prayer rooms in Bukittinggi City, West Sumatra.

The pursuit was carried out after the police received a report from the management of the Baitul Jannah Mosque, Campago Ipuh Village, Mandiangin Koto Selayan District, Bukittinggi City regarding the alleged fraud case in procuring sacrificial cattle.

"This case of fraud in the procurement of sacrificial cows was carried out by the perpetrator with the initials AD (36), a resident of Puhun Pintu Kabun Village, Bukittinggi City. The victims were several mosques and prayer rooms," said the Head of the Bukittinggi City Police, Kompol Rita Suryanti in Bukittinggi as quoted by Antara, Monday, July 11.

From the reports received, the management of the Baitul Jannah Musala ordered five cows and one goat through AD, with the agreement that the sacrificial animals would be imported on Sunday.

"Until the promised day, the sacrificial animals have not arrived, while up to 300 coupons have been distributed to residents," said the Bukittinggi Police Chief.

According to him, after the report was received, personnel were immediately dispatched to hunt down the Army.

"Currently the team has detected the existence of AD, hopefully this case will be revealed soon," said Rita.

Previously, several prayer rooms in Bukittinggi City were forced to cancel the sacrificial service because the sacrificial cows, which should have been at the slaughter site, never appeared.

This alleged fraudulent purchase of sacrificial cows has become a major case that has never occurred in Bukittinggi.

It was reported that a number of mosques and prayer rooms suffered losses of hundreds of millions of rupiah because they had given money to buy cows, but the sacrificial animals did not come until the day of slaughter.
