JAKARTA After years of cases of abuse by female students in Jombang finally came to light after the 'drama' protracted between the police and the sympathizers of the suspects at the Shiddiqiyah Islamic Boarding School.

This case began when a child at the Islamic boarding school named Moch Subchi Azal Tsani (MSAT) performed a kemben bathing ritual for female students who wanted to register as health workers.

MSAT tricked his female students to perform rituals that were not actually Islamic teachings under the pretext of wanting to interview them directly. In the ritual, MSAT launched its action by molesting its female students and not infrequently committing acts of sexual violence.

Claiming to have the magic of healing the disease

Based on the testimony of victim Mas Bechi, MSAT called, claiming to have methamphetamine or a kind of mystical knowledge that can cure disease. MSAT seduces his victims to teach them the knowledge and one way is to have sex with them.

Feeling cheated, MSAT was immediately reported to the authorities and made a suspect by the police. Not accepting the status of a suspect, MSAT submitted a pretrial to the Jombang District Court on January 21, 2022.

During the trial, the victim witnesses presented revealed the surprising fact that they were asked to be naked without a piece of yarn on their bodies. The victims also told MSAT pretending to transfer some kind of knowledge and threaten with violence.

After the pretrial trial, the case seemed to have stalled and based on Komnas Perempuan's statement, the MSAT case also seemed not forwarded by the police.

East Java Police will follow up

MSAT was summoned by the East Java Regional Police to undergo the second phase of the submission process from the East Java Police investigators to the East Java Prosecutor's Office. However, he was absent. The East Java Regional Police finally put himself on the wanted list (DPO) or fugitive.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, July 3, a team from the East Java Regional Police and the Jombang Police attempted to arrest MSA in Ploso District. However, MSAT managed to escape. Only two people who were with him were arrested.

After receiving various reports and input from the public, on Thursday 7 July the Joint Team from the Jombang Police and the East Java Regional Police came to Popes Shiddiqiyah Jombang to forcibly pick up MSAT.

However, this pick-up did not go smoothly because MSAT's parents, who were also respected by Kiyai in Jombang, asked the police to stop the case because they felt that their son was slandered. In fact, a video circulated that there were negotiations between the police and the kiyai.

The Head of Public Relations of the East Java Police, Kombes Dirmanto, emphasized that there was no negotiation between the police.

"This is purely a forced pick-up activity, there is no negotiation effort between the police and anyone (Ponpes Siddiqiyayah assistant)," said Dirmanto, confirmed on Thursday, July 7.

Dirmanto admitted that he was surprised by the emergence of several circulating videos, as if the police were negotiating with the father of a fugitive MSAT, the caretaker of the Siddiqiyayah Islamic Boarding School.

In the 30-second video, the Jombang Police Chief, AKBP Moh Nurhidayat, is in dialogue with MSAT's parents, the suspect in the case of sexual abuse of students.

In the video, MSAT's father asks the Jombang Police Chief not to pick up his son. He promised the police chief he would take his own son to the East Java Police.

Faced by MSAT sympathizers

The forced pick-up did not go well because the police were intercepted by dozens of people who claimed to be MSAT sympathizers.

For this effort, the East Java Police have hundreds of people when they were carrying out a forced pick-up of MSAT.

"As many as 321 people (MSAT sympathizers) have been arrested last Thursday. A total of five people have been named as suspects," said the Director of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of the East Java Police, Kombes Totok Suharyanto, at the Class 1 A Detention Center in Medaeng, Sidoarjo Regency, Friday, July 8.

Totok explained that 321 people were arrested for obstructing the police when they were about to arrest the MSAT fugitive on Thursday. Of that number, four of them were named suspects.

"Meanwhile, one suspect was involved in hitting the police when he was about to arrest MSAT on Wednesday (July 5)," he said.

The plan is that the five suspects will be detained starting today. The suspect was charged with a criminal act of obstructing the investigation.

Those arrested, the suspect of sexual abuse of female students at the Shiddiqiyah Islamic Boarding School in Jombang Regency were charged with criminal threats of the Law on the Crime of Sexual Violence (TPKS). The threat is a maximum of 5 years in prison.

Self-reflection

After hundreds of his followers were detained by Mas Bechi, he called, surrendered himself to the police on Thursday, July 7 at midnight and was immediately taken to the East Java Regional Police.

"The person concerned surrendered himself," said East Java Police Chief Inspector General Nico Afinta in front of Ponpes Sahiddiqiyah.

Currently MSAT is being taken to the East Java Police Headquarters. The East Java Police Chief ensured that the follow-up process for the children of the Jombang kiai would be carried out by handing over the suspect to the Prosecutor's Office.

"Next week we will hand it over to the Prosecutor's Office," said the Kapolda.

The trial process for Moch Subchi Azal Tsani (MSAT)alias Mas Bechi, the suspect in the sexual abuse of female students at the Shiddiqiyah Islamic Boarding School in Jombang Regency will not be held at the Jombang District Court. MSAT will be tried at the Surabaya District Court (PN), due to security factors.

"The trial was moved to Surabaya, due to security factors," said the Head of the Jombang District Attorney's Office (Kajari), Tengku Firdaus, at the Class 1 A Rutan in Surabaya.

Tengku ensured that his party had obtained permission from the Supreme Court (MA). This is after the Jombang Kejari proposed that the trial be transferred to the Surabaya District Court, because it was feared that there would be mass mobilization during the trial process.

"Based on the consideration of conduciveness, we Forkopimda Jombag proposed to the Supreme Court to move the place of trial. Then on that basis, the Chief of the Supreme Court decided to be transferred to Surabaya," he said.

Previously, the police confirmed that the alleged sexual abuse case of female students at the Shiddiqiyah Islamic Boarding School, Jombang Regency, had entered phase two (P21). The East Java Regional Police handed over the suspect, Moch Subchi Azal Tsani (MSAT)alias Mas Bechi, along with the evidence to the East Java High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati).

"In administratively, we have submitted the second stage of the suspect and evidence, and the Public Prosecutor has received it directly by the Aspidum of the East Java Prosecutor's Office and Pak Kajari Jombang," said Kombes Totok.
