G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting In Nusa Dua Bali Expected To Strengthen Multilateralism

NUSA DUA - The G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting (FMM) is expected to produce progressive inputs that will strengthen multilateralism or solidarity between countries in the midst of a global crisis.

The G20 FMM which will be held in Nusa Dua, Bali on 7-8 July 2022 will focus on discussing issues from a global perspective and political aspects in the midst of an uncertain world situation, according to a press release from the Directorate General of IKP, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 6

"The current world situation is very difficult, this is where we need to work together to carry out our commitment to peace and humanity," said Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi.

The G20 FMM will discuss two main issues, namely strengthening multilateralism and the food and energy crisis.

A number of speakers are scheduled to participate in the meeting, including United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Executive Director of the World Food Program David Beasley, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All and UN-Energy Co-Chair Damilola Ogunbiyi, and Managing Director of the World Bank Mari Elka Pangestu. With the theme "Building a More Peaceful, Stable, and Prosperous World Together", the G20 FMM became a strategic forum to discuss global recovery efforts. The G20 is a strategic multilateral platform that connects the world's 20 major economies and plays a strategic role in securing the future of global economic growth and prosperity.

The G20 consists of 20 countries with the largest economies in the world, namely Indonesia, Russia, South Africa, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, India, Britain, Italy, Japan, Germany, Canada, Mexico, South Korea, France, China, Turkey, and the European Union. As the holder of this year's G20 Presidency, Indonesia gives priority to cooperation in strengthening global health architecture, digital transformation and energy transition. With the new situation in Ukraine, issues related to food security will also be widely discussed in various G20 meetings.
