MATARAM - The Mataram City Police, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has named a woman with the status of a state civil servant with the initials JN as a suspect in the case of brokering the recruitment of ASN candidates in 2021.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Mataram Police, Kompol Kadek Adi Budi Astawa, said that the determination of JN, 42, as a suspect began with the follow-up to the victim's report.

"In the report, JN initially promised that the victim would pass the ASN candidate test at the Mataram City Hospital last year. The condition was that they had to submit money as collateral," said Kadek Adi, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 6.

The security deposit, he explained, reached Rp. 28 million. Money is deposited regularly, starting from Rp. 10 million, Rp. 15 million, and finally Rp. 3 million.

"Because he didn't pass, the victim asked for the promise of a refund, but the suspect couldn't keep the promise until it was finally reported," he said.

During the investigation process, the police found evidence that confirmed JN's actions against the law.

"So, from the results of the case, the actions of the suspect JN meet the criminal elements of fraud and embezzlement," said Kompol Kadek Adi.

The evidence supporting the criminal act includes, among others, a receipt for handing over money from the victim to the suspect and a written agreement.

"In the agreement letter, the suspect promises the victim to pass the ASN candidate test on condition that they hand over the money," he said.

Because of that, as a suspect, JN was charged with Article 372 of the Criminal Code on Embezzlement and Article 378 of the Criminal Code on Fraud with a penalty of 4 years in prison.
