Even Though Residents Protested, DKI Deputy Governor Emphasized That The Provincial Government Would Still Change Street Names

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria emphasized that the DKI Provincial Government remained in its decision to change dozens of street names despite protests from affected residents.

"Until now, the decision from the provincial government remains with the name (road) being changed," said Riza at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, July 6.

Riza understands that changing street names makes residents need to re-administer changes to documents such as ID cards, KK, STNK, to land certificates.

However, Riza emphasized that residents are not required to immediately process document changes. They can make adjustments to the address when the document expires.

"For example, the STNK only expires 5 years later, so it doesn't need to be replaced now. For example, a certificate doesn't need to be changed now. Even if the name changes, the old one has the old name. , not burdensome," he explained.

If residents want to change their residence documents to the current vehicle, Riza guarantees that the process is free of charge.

As is known, protests for the change of street names by the Governor of DKI Jakarta continue to emerge. One of them is a resident of Jalan Budaya which has turned into Jalan Entong Gendut in the Kramat Jati area, East Jakarta, expressing their complaints.

Then, a resident of RW 06 Tanah Tinggi Sub-district, Johar Baru District, admitted that he did not accept and refused to change the name of the street in his area to Jalan A. Hamid Arief.

In changing the name of Jalan Tanah Tinggi V to Jalan Hamid Arief, residents claimed that they had never been involved. Residents said, there was no deliberation or notification of the change of street name from the local kelurahan.

There are also residents of RW 01 Cikini Urban Village, Menteng, Central Jakarta, who strongly reject the change in the name of Jalan Cikini VII to Jalan Tino Sidin. In fact, 6 RTs in RW 01 have made written statements regarding the refusal.
