JAKARTA - Chairman of the MPR RI Bambang Soesatyo asked the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) together with the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) to monitor and carry out quality control of simple packaged bulk cooking oil.

"This is to ensure that this bulk cooking oil complies with the provisions of the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) and has a cleaner quality than the previous packaging," said Bamsoet, whose nickname is Bambang Soesatyo.

He asked the Ministry of Trade to arrange a scheme to expand the distribution of simple packaged bulk cooking oil to all traditional markets and supermarkets and to ensure stock availability and prices are in accordance with the highest retail price (HET) which is set at Rp. 14,000/liter.

"The Ministry of Trade must ensure and supervise so that the process of distributing cooking oil throughout Indonesia is getting better, including to areas that are difficult or have minimal access," said Bamsoet.

Bamsoet appreciated the Ministry of Trade and the Trade Office for conducting regular market operations to monitor that packaged bulk cooking oil was still available in the market at a set price.

Previously, the Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan, launched a simple cooking oil with the Oilita brand which was sold at a price of Rp. 14,000 per liter to make it easier for the public to get cooking oil stocks.

"Today we are launching Oilita. Of course we are grateful to be able to launch people's cooking oil which is packaged in such a simple way," said the Minister of Trade while attending the inauguration in Jakarta, Wednesday.

The Minister of Trade said that in the matter of cooking oil, both businessmen and the government realized that the distribution chain needed bulk cooking oil and needed to be improved.

For this reason, with the presence of Oilita, the Minister of Trade hopes that the distribution of cooking oil at prices according to the highest retail price (HET) can be smoother, through distribution chains such as Si Gurih and Warung Pangan.

"Bottlenecks have gone smoothly so that in Java-Bali the price is already Rp. 14,000 per liter. Indeed, in Papua, Tarakan, some are still at Rp. 20,000, which is still high. We discuss it, and thank God, now there are simple packaging, some even use bottles. ," said the Minister of Trade.

According to Zulkifli, for people in Eastern Indonesia, namely Sulawesi, Kalimantan, and Papua, where the distribution of bulk cooking oil is logistically constrained, it will be resolved with the newly launched simple packaged cooking oil.

"This simple packaged cooking oil will be easier to distribute to Papua, Sulawesi, Kalimantan, and other regions of Eastern Indonesia," said the Minister of Trade.

Zulkifli said that in the future, it is hoped that Oilita will be able to enter stalls, traditional markets, minimarkets, and supermarkets.
