JAKARTA - The DPR has again extended the time for discussing the Draft Law (RUU) on Personal Data Protection (PDP) and the Bill on Amendments to Law Number 5 of 2014 concerning State Civil Apparatus (ASN) in a plenary meeting.

The discussion of the two bills has been extended to the First Session Period for the 2022-2023 Session Year which will begin on August 16, 2022.

"Based on the results of the consultation meeting to replace Bamus on June 29, 2022, the leadership of Commission I of the DPR has requested an extension of the time for the discussion of the Personal Data Protection Bill, and Commission II of the DPR has requested an extension of the Bill on Amendments to Law Number 5 of 2014 concerning State Civil Apparatus (ASN)," said Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad in a plenary session at the DPR building, Senayan, Thursday, July 5.

Dasco explained that the reason for the extension of the discussion on the PDP Bill was because the bill had technical problems and a solution had to be found immediately. The solution, he said, needed to immediately find a solution for the perfection of the PDP Bill.

"So with these various considerations, the leadership of the DPR, with the approval of the deliberative body to replace the consultation at the bamus meeting yesterday. It agreed that one more session was given the opportunity for the government and Commission I to synchronize so that what is still an obstacle becomes the same perception," he explained.

Therefore, Dasco asked for approval in this plenary meeting to extend the time for the discussion of the two bills until the First Session Period of the 2022-2023 Session Year.

"Therefore, in this plenary meeting, can we agree to extend the discussion of these two bills until the next Session 1 Year 2022-2023. Can it be approved?" Dasco asked.

All members of the DPR who were present at today's plenary session also gave their approval to extend the discussion of the two bills again.
