Judge Asks Joko Tjandra Not To Bribe The Panel

JAKARTA - Chairman of the panel of judges at the Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor) Muhammad Damis warned Joko Tjandra not to try to bribe the judge.

"Whoever says taking care of your brother's case is a lie, it is not possible. If someone says that, it is the person who cheated you because it cannot happen," said head of the panel of judges Muhammad Damis at the Jakarta Corruption Court, reported by Antara, Monday, November 2.

Muhammad Damis is also known to be the Chairman of the Central Jakarta District Court (PN Jakpus), conveying this shortly before the public prosecutor at the Attorney General's Office reads the indictment.

"Because of that we warn not to make bribes and so on," said Muhammad Damis.

Djoko Tjandra in this case was charged with two charges.

First, Djoko Tjandra as a convicted person in the Bank Bali cessie case was charged with bribing prosecutor Pinangki Sirna Malasari in the amount of 500 thousand Singapore dollars, the former Head of the International Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police, Inspector General Pol. Napoleon Bonaparte in the amount of 200 thousand Singapore dollars and 270 US dollars and the former Head of the Coordinating and Supervision Bureau (Kakorwas) Civil Service Investigator (PPNS) Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Pol. Prasetijo Utomo worth 150 thousand US dollars.

This means that the total bribes given by Djoko Tjandra to the three state law enforcement agencies was US $ 920 thousand (around Rp.13.42 billion) and Singapore dollars 200 thousand (around Rp.2,144 billion), reaching around Rp. 15.567 billion.

The purpose of paying the bribe was for the three of them to obtain an MA fatwa through the Attorney General's Office and remove Djoko Tjandra's name from the Wanted List (DPO).

The trial continued on November 10, 2020 with an agenda for witness examination.
