JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a meeting with the President of the United Arab Emirates (PEA) Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed (MBZ) bin Sultan Al Nahyan at the Al Shatie Palace, Abu Dhabi.

The President arrived at the Al Shatie Palace at around 13.30 local time and immediately carried out a joint photo session and a bilateral meeting between the two delegations.

In his introductory remarks, the President appreciated President MBZ for the friendly relationship between Indonesia and the PEA which continues to improve in the midst of the current challenging situation.

"Thank you for accepting us in the midst of such a challenging situation as we are currently working together to improve relations between the two countries," said President Jokowi as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, July 1.

The two leaders also exchanged memorandum of understanding (MoU) documents for cooperation in the fields of trade, climate change, health, maritime and fisheries, defense, education, and ports.

Accompanying President Jokowi in the meeting were Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto, Minister of BUMN Erick Thohir, Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Head of the IKN Authority Agency Bambang Susantono, Chair of INA Ridha Wirakusumah, and Indonesian Ambassador to Abu Dhabi Husin Bagis.
