JAKARTA - The police examined a number of witnesses related to the case of child bullying which had gone viral in recent days in Jember, East Java.

"The case has been followed up and the handling is carried out at the Tanggul Police," said Jember Police Chief AKBP Hery Purnomo, Thursday, June 30.

According to him, the case has been processed and a number of witnesses have been summoned for questioning in the bullying case, including the reported witness and is still being investigated.

Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations of the Jember Police, Iptu Brisan Immanula, said that the incident actually occurred in May 2022, but the recorded bullying has only gone viral in the last few days via WhatsApp.

"The bullying occurred when the victim with the initials HK left one of the organizations of the alleged perpetrator group. When he left, HK was considered to have harassed the organization by badmouthing the name of the organization," he said.

The results of the examination, he continued, there was actually a peace agreement between the victim and the alleged perpetrator, but when the bullying video was circulated and the parents of the victim found out, the victim's parents did not accept it.

"The victim's parents finally reported the bullying case to the Tanggul Police, even though it had been more than a month. We processed the case by asking a number of witnesses," he said.

He explained that Tanggul Police investigators had asked for information from a number of parties, including victim witnesses and underage witnesses from the reported party.

Tanggul Police Chief AKP Miftahul Huda said from the results of the examination, it was suspected that only two people had perpetrated the abuse, namely FR and RN, while RO was given the task of recording what FR and RN did to HK victims.

"What is clear is that this case is purely a criminal offense carried out by FR and RN against the victim of HK. The case is still in the stage of investigation and guidance, as well as counseling to the reported party," he said.
