KUNINGAN - The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries of Kuningan Regency revealed that 850 cattle in its area have recovered from foot and mouth disease (PMK).

The number of cows that recovered was from a total of 3,000 head of cattle infected with FMD.

"There are 850 cows that have recovered from PMK," said the veterinary health worker of the Fisheries and Livestock Service Office of Kuningan Regency, Rofiq when contacted by telephone, quoted from Antara, Thursday, June 30.

Rofiq said the FMD outbreak in Kuningan Regency had infected more than 3,000 livestock, consisting of cows and buffalo.

However, Rofiq continued, the cattle affected by FMD were mostly dairy cows and beef cattle, while there were only hundreds of buffalo.

Because according to Rofiq, cattle are indeed vulnerable to contracting FMD, especially dairy cows, because the cages are very close together.

"In total, more than 3,000 have been infected with PMK," he said.

He added that of the 3,000 infected head of PMK 100 livestock died, 850 recovered, and 200 were forced to be slaughtered, because it was already severe while the rest were still being treated.

According to him, to prevent the spread of PMK, currently the Kuningan Regency Government has received 7,200 doses of PMK vaccine, and 2,400 cows have been injected.

"We have injected 2,400 PMK vaccines. And we continue to pursue vaccination achievements," he concluded.
