JAKARTA - First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo hopes that the war in Ukraine will end soon, because she gets goosebumps seeing the conditions that have occurred in the country due to the Russian invasion.

This was conveyed by Irian while accompanying President Jokowi to deliver humanitarian assistance in the form of medicines to the Center for Endocrine Science and Surgery, Endocrine Organ and Tissue Transplantation in Kyiv City, Wednesday, June 29, 2022.

The visit to one of the medical centers was carried out by a limited group of President Jokowi, after the Lipky Apartment Complex in Irpin City.

"Earlier, Mr. Jokowi and I helped a little for hospitals that were victims of the war," said First Lady Iriana after handing over the aid, quoted from the Website of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Wednesday, June 29.

Asked about her impression of accompanying President Jokowi on a visit to Ukraine, in the midst of the ongoing war with Russia, the First Lady hoped that the war would end soon.

"With Bismillah, I will accompany you, I hope this war will end soon, because it gives me goosebumps," hoped the First Lady.

It is known, in addition to the humanitarian aid delivered today to hospitals, the Indonesian government also provides assistance through the Ukrainian Red Cross and commitments to reconstruct war-damaged hospitals.

"In addition to the assistance symbolically conveyed by the First Lady, the Indonesian government also provides assistance through the Ukrainian Red Cross and is also committed to assisting with the reconstruction of war-affected hospitals," said Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi separately.

As previously reported, after visiting the medical facility, President Jokowi will meet with President Zelensky at the Maryinsky Palace.
