JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is confused by Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) which only focuses on urging the search for the ex-legislative candidate (caleg) who is still at large, Harun Masiku.
Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, said that his party is currently looking for many other fugitives. Just like Aaron, everyone needs to be found to solve the case that ensnares them.
"Why does ICW only focus on the fugitive Harun Masiku? For us, it is equally important for all of the cases where the suspect is a DPO to be found and resolved immediately," Ali said in a written statement to reporters, Wednesday, June 29.
Ali emphasized that the KPK is committed to finding the fugitives and bringing them to trial. However, this effort certainly helps the community by providing information.
"Anyone who has the latest information and data and it is submitted to the KPK, we will definitely follow up," he said.
"We make sure that the KPK continues to search for the DPOs, both those set since 2017 and 2020," Ali added.
Previously, ICW believed that the KPK under the leadership of Firli Bahuri et al. had never looked for Harun Masiku, who is a fugitive in the case of interim turnover (PAW) bribery for members of the Indonesian House of Representatives. The proof is that the briber, former Commissioner of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Wahyu Setiawan, has been on the run for 900 days.
"We are very sure that Harun Masiku was never actually wanted by the KPK," ICW Coordinator Kurnia Ramadhana told reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, June 28.
Kurnia even assessed that Firli Bahuri and KPK officials had only made rhetorical statements about the search for Harun.
"A number of previous KPK fugitives who could be arrested by the KPK, one of them is the former General Treasurer of the Democratic Party M. Nazaruddin if I'm not mistaken (arrested, ed) within 77 days," said the anti-corruption activist.
"It's been 900 days why can't the KPK arrest (Harun Masiku, ed)? We are absolutely sure that until the end of Firli Bahuri's term of office, Harun Masiku will never be caught by the KPK," added Kurnia.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Harun Masiku as a suspect in giving bribes to KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan since January 2020. This bribery was carried out so that he would have the convenience of sitting as a member of the DPR RI through time shifts or PAW.
Apart from Harun, there are actually three other fugitives who have not been caught. They are Surya Darmadi who has been on the run since 2019; Izil Azhar has been a fugitive since 2018; and Kirana Kotama who has been fugitive since 2017.
