JAKARTA - The Directorate General (Ditjen) of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) explains how the owner or passport holder who wants to change the address on the travel document.

"Change of address data can be done when someone changes passport," said Sub-Coordinator of Public Relations of the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Achmad Nur Saleh in a written statement, Wednesday, June 29.

Or, he said again, if the passport holder is affected by the change in the name of the street initiated by the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan, then they are allowed to write their latest address on the last page.

With a note, he continued, the change in street name did not take long after the person concerned changed his passport.

Therefore, Saleh appealed to the public not to worry, because writing the new address would not have an impact on the validity of the passport.

Furthermore, he explained that the passport biodata page does not actually include the full address of the passport holder. However, the address information is stored in the database of the Directorate General of Immigration. Therefore, the public is not required to change their address as quickly as possible.

Based on the Antara report, it is explained that the mechanism for changing the address of the passport holder has been regulated in laws and government regulations in terms of changing a person's civil status. Immigration will adjust the identification documents attached, including identity cards (KTP) and family cards (KK).

"So, when the address on the ID card has changed, we will adjust it," he said.

People who wish to change their passports and at the same time change their address information in the Immigration database, must first complete the data change process at the local Population and Civil Registry Office.

He explained that the provisions related to passport holder data are contained in Article 49 of Government Regulation Number 31 of 2013 concerning Implementing Regulations for the Immigration Law.

The law states that passport applicants are required to attach a valid ID card, family card, birth certificate, marriage certificate or marriage book and diploma or baptism certificate.

Meanwhile, the rules for change of address are explained in Article 14 of Law Number 23 of 2006 concerning Population Administration which states that in the event of a change in the address of a resident, the implementing agency is obliged to issue the issuance of changes to the resident registration document.

"Changes in passport holder data in the Immigration Management Information System are free of charge, applicants only pay non-tax state revenue (PNBP, ed) for a passport replacement application," he concluded.
