KPK Expands Research On RAPBD Bribery Matters Involving Zumi Zola

JAKARTA - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators are currently developing a bribery case for the ratification of the Jambi RAPBD for the 2017 fiscal year which previously charged former Jambi Governor Zumi Zola.

Even so, the KPK has not explained in detail about the party that was declared a suspect in this case. Investigators are currently still carrying out a series of investigative activities.

"Currently, it is true that an investigation is being carried out by the KPK in the case of the development of the alleged bribery for the ratification of the Jambi RAPBD for the 2017 budget. But we cannot provide more specific information," said Acting KPK spokesman Ali Fikri in a written statement received by VOI, Saturday, October 31.

Ali ensured that the KPK would immediately inform further about the progress of this case.

"Every development of this case will certainly be conveyed to the public in a transparent and accountable manner as mandated by the Corruption Eradication Commission Law. For this reason, in due time we will tell whoever is named a suspect," he said.

In this bribery case, the KPK charged 13 new suspects from various elements ranging from three Jambi DPRD leaders, five faction leaders, one commission chairman, three DPRD members, and a private party.

In this case, the former Jambi Governor Zumi Zola has been sentenced to six years in prison and a fine of Rp. 500 million, a subsidiary of three months in prison by the Panel of Judges at the Jakarta Corruption Court. In addition, the judge also gave an additional sentence in the form of withdrawal of political rights for five years.

This former artist was proven to have paid bribes to 53 members of the Jambi Province DPRD worth a total of IDR 16.5 billion. This money is given so that the leadership and members of the Jambi Provincial DPRD approve the Raperda APBD for the 2017-2018 budget year.
