Police Arrest Boss Of Illegal Packaged Cooking Oil Sold In Online Shop

TANGERANG – The director of PT Syakilla Pratama has been named a suspect in the case of selling illegal cooking oil. The Tangerang Metro Police Chief, Kombes Zain Dwi Nugroho, said the determination was based on evidence held by the police regarding the raid that was carried out at a place in the Pinang area, Tangerang City, Friday, June 24.

"The perpetrator committed the crime of packaging bulk cooking oil in packaged bottles accompanied by the Qila brand label. Where this packaging activity is not accompanied by the specified SNI, nor distribution permit," Zain told reporters in Pinang, Tangerang City.

Zain explained that the disclosure began with reports from residents who saw a number of bulk cooking oil tanks in the Pinang area. Then they reported it to the police on Wednesday, June 22.

"An investigation was carried out at this location. We also carried out cyber patrols on several social media, both Shopee and Tokopedia. We found cheap cooking oil online. Here at Shopee, it is sold at a price of 20 thousand Qilla brands and in Tokopedia it is sold at 40 thousand," said Zain.

The police conducted a search at the location suspected of packing the bulk cooking oil. As a result, officers found tens of thousands of liters of cooking oil.

"We have secured the powder (evidence) in the form of storage tanks for tens of thousands of liters of illegal packaged bulk cooking oil," he said.

For his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 113 in conjunction with Article 57 Paragraph 2 of Law RI Number 7 of 2014 concerning Trade and/or Article 120 Paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 53 Paragraph 1 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 3 of 2014 concerning Industry and/or Article 142 Paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 91 paragraph 1 of the Republic of Indonesia Law number 18 of 2012 concerning Food.

"And also Article 64 of Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation and/or Article 62 in conjunction with Article 8 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection," added Zain. The suspect is threatened with imprisonment for a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 5 years and a minimum fine of Rp. billion - IDR 5 billion.
