JAKARTA - Former spokesman for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Febri Diansyah, together with anti-corruption activists who also previously joined Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW), Donal Fariz set up a law office. He said the law office would later be focused on advocating for victims of corruption and consumer protection.

"Why advocate for victims of corruption? Because people are victims, their current fate tends to be neglected. So it needs to be defended. We plan to carry out this advocacy from a litigation aspect," Febri said as quoted from a written statement received by VOI, Friday, October 30.

"We are currently arranging together and discussing with one of the senior advocates in this field, David Tobing. There are a number of future advocacies that will be built to defend the rights of the victims of corruption," he added.

Furthermore, this law office will also provide assistance to form an anti-corruption system including in the 2020 Pilkada contest. Febri said, together with Donal, he built communication with election organizers and regional head candidates who have an anti-corruption commitment, including being reluctant to do money politics and try to implement governance. clean government.

One of the candidates for regional head he has met is the non-active Regent of Dhamasraya, namely Sutan Riska, who will again run as an incumbent candidate. In a meeting, Febri said a number of things had been discussed. One of them, he and Donal asked Sutan to continue to prioritize a political process with integrity and not to do money politics.

Responding to this, Sutan, who is a candidate for regent from the PDI Perjuangan, said that he would carry out the 2020 Pilkada process without money politics and strive to continue to build Dhamasraya.

"In addition, there is a need conveyed by Sutan Riska, namely for professional legal assistance. In principle, professionally, we will carry out our duties as advocates as long as the anti-corruption values and integrity in politics are upheld," he said.

"Because after all, in my opinion, legal assistance by lawyers must also carry anti-corruption values in the assistance process," he added.

Previously, Febri Diansyah submitted his resignation letter on 18 September. He addressed the letter to the KPK Leaders, the KPK Secretary General, and the KPK Head of the Human Resources (HR) Bureau.

Through the letter, Febri revealed his reason for becoming a KPK employee because he realized that efforts to eradicate corruption could be taken more seriously. "For me, being a KPK is not only a matter of status or position but more than that. This is the main effort to contribute to eradicating corruption," he wrote in the letter.

He also said that the KPK is an example as well as hope for many people so that working well and transparently is a must.

"However, the political and legal conditions have changed for the KPK. After undergoing this new situation for about eleven months I decided on this path. I chose to submit my resignation from the institution that I really love, the KPK," said Febri.

Meanwhile Donal Fariz decided to leave ICW on 30 September with regeneration being the reason.
