MAKASSAR - The Makassar City Government (Pemkot) has prepared 4,000 surveillance cameras or CCTV to prevent crime, especially the act of burglary which is troubling the people in this area.

The Mayor of Makassar, Moh Ramdhan Pomanto, said that there was a need for quick preventive measures because this action had disturbed the community.

"In Makassar there are around 1,000 alleys and we will install four surveillance cameras in each aisle, so that the total surveillance cameras that we will install in 2022 will reach a total of 4,000 units," he said, quoted by Antara, Monday, May 27.

He explained that the budget for the procurement of thousands of surveillance cameras had already been included in the sub-district funds and the installation would be done this year.

"So this surveillance camera is connected to wifi and God willing, it can be directly monitored when a crime occurs," he said.

Danny Pomanto, as Ramdhan is known, said that the attack in Makassar was considered worrying because the perpetrators had no reason or motivation, such as group wars targeting certain opponents.

On the other hand, he said, this arcing action was aimed aimlessly or simply fired arrows at any target.

"Actually, the number of shootings is decreasing, it's just quite disturbing because these perpetrators are bowing people for no apparent reason. We involve RT RW to monitor. They know each other so identification is easier," said Danny.
