JAKARTA - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) is concerned about the emergence of a letter from the Bandung City DPRD Commission D member named Erwin who entrusts students to be accepted by schools for the 2022 new student admissions (PPDB).

KPAI's Commissioner for Education, Retno Listyarti, views the actions of the Bandung DPRD member as having exceeded her authority for violating ethics. In addition, Retno also suspects that there is an abuse of political elements.

"If all parents in the electoral district (dapil) concerned leave their children in the PPDB, apart from violating ethics and the community's sense of justice, it is also dangerous because it can be strongly suspected that there is a political element, namely gaining votes to vote for him," Retno told reporters, Monday. , June 27.

Retno emphasized that the online school registration process aims to build openness or transparency, so there is no longer any entrusting or even buying and selling of school chairs.

Currently, Erwin has admitted that he had sent the letter and has withdrawn the letter after being criticized by many parties. However, it did not stop there, Retno asked the Honorary Board of the Council to examine the DPRD members from the PKB faction.

"To prevent the same incident from happening again in the future, especially among officials, it should not just apologize and finish, but the Honorary Board of the Council will also check whether the act in question is ethical or not," said Retno.

As is known, a letter of recommendation from a member of Commission D of the Bandung City DPRD who entrusted a number of names to be accepted at a number of State Vocational Schools in the city of Bandung was widely circulated on social media, causing a commotion among netizens and the wider community.

The letter numbered 2029/RA.DPRD/VI/2022 was signed by member of Commission D DPRD Bandung City Erwin. In the attachment to the letter, Erwin listed a number of SMKN in the city of Bandung and a list of the students who were entrusted with it.

After going viral and causing a stir in the community, Erwin spoke up. In a written statement, Erwin admitted to making and signing the recommendation letter.

Erwin reasoned that the letter was the aspiration of the citizens of Bandung, not as a form of intervention to the West Java Education Office. Erwin confirmed that he had withdrawn the letter.
