JAKARTA - The Executive Committee for the Coalition for Action to Save Indonesia (KAMI) Jambi Muhammad Usman explained the incident of the police's dismissal of the declaration. According to him, the event was disbanded because he did not have permission from the police or from the local COVID-19 Handling Task Force.

However, Usman emphasized that his party had repeatedly tried to arrange permits. The authorities have not recently issued this permit.

"We have tried to take care of it but it was not granted. We have also postponed the declaration several times but the permit was still not issued," said Usman when confirmed by reporters, Friday, October 30.

Even though he did not have a permit, he emphasized that this declaration activity still adheres to health protocols in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic because the event participants wear masks and the number is also limited to only 30 people. "So we've been trying to negotiate but the apparatus is still asking to be disbanded," he said.

As a result of the disbandment of the event, Usman said the event which should have been on the agenda of listening to the delivery of the national speech by the WE Presidium Gatot Nurmantyo ultimately failed to be implemented.

"We cannot carry out the agenda for the delivery of the national speech by Pak Gatot Nurmantyo but Pak Din (Din Syamsuddin, red) and Pak Rochmat Wahab have already delivered their speeches," he said.

Previously, the declaration of the Coalition for Action to Save Indonesia (WE) in Jambi was visited by police officers and asked for the event to be disbanded. This happened when a senior WE, Rochmat Wahab, delivered his remarks and the dissolution was seen in the video of the event which was conducted online.

Furthermore, after negotiating, Usman, who acted as the host of the online session, said the event had to be dissolved.

"Sorry that the situation is not conducive because the officers asked for the event to be disbanded. So, we are sorry that we will disband the program," he said to the Zoom Meeting participants.

Then, he received an explanation from the police regarding this disbandment. The reason is to prevent the spread of COVID-19 because there are crowds.

Even so, recently the police still allowed the last event, namely tumpeng cutting, to be carried out. However, the police were on guard in front of the event location.

It is known, a number of actions of the US declaration were dismissed several times by the police. One of them was during the grand gathering of the Coalition for Action to Save Indonesia (WE), which was held in Surabaya, East Java, on September 28.

At that time, the event was attended by the WE Presidium Gatot Nurmantyo, at Gedung Juang 45 Surabaya due to rejection from several elements of society.
