Sidikalang Coffee Must Wake Up From A Long Sleep, Reclaim Its Glory

JAKARTA - The Dairi Regency Government, North Sumatra, has made various efforts to restore the glory of Sidikalang Coffee. One of them is by launching the "Wednesday Coffee" program in a series of activities at the Dairi Kreatif Festival.

The Regent of Dairi, Dr. Eddy Keleng Ate Berutu in Sidikalang, Saturday, June 25 said, "Wednesday Coffee" is expected to further popularize coffee and restore the glory of Sidikalang coffee.

"Nature has provided the best potential in Dairi, now it's our turn to bring this potential like coffee to a more global level. We know that coffee and ulos Silalahi weaving are processed and done by strong women, and it becomes an iconic potential that we will bring in G -20 in the future," said Eddy quoted from Antara.

Accompanied by the head of the Dairi Regency Dekranasda, Romy Mariani Eddy Berutu, the regent said, Wednesday Coffee will be a tagline that was deliberately carried out starting from government circles such as ASN to further introduce Sidikalang coffee with its distinctive taste.

"Our coffee has a distinctive taste that other people need to know about. So we are more active in introducing this Sidikalang coffee from ourselves. Hopefully the glory of Sidikalang coffee will be even more famous, through the small action 'Wednesday Coffee," he said.

He said that Silalahi ulos coffee and weaving are potential for Dairi Regency which is planned to be brought in and fill the G-20 forum which will be held in October in Bali.

"We need support from various parties to further elevate the potential of Sidikalang coffee which is already famous to be more global again. Wednesday Coffee is a form of support and presence of the government to restore the glory of Kopio Sidikalang," he said.
