Already Have Party Schools And Cadreization Patterns, PDIP Makes Sure Not To Choose A Presidential Candidate Just To Be Popular

JAKARTA - The PDI-P (PDIP) has confirmed that it will not choose presidential and vice-presidential candidates based on popularity and figures alone. Internal cadres who have processed will be their choice.

PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said his party would also not rely on the coat-tail effect. The reason is that they already have a strategy, namely regeneration.

"For us, yes, recruitment must grow from below from regeneration and leadership through this Party School," said Hasto on the sidelines of the 2021 PDIP National Working Meeting (Rakernas) at the Party School, Lenteng Agung, Jakarta, Wednesday, 22 June.

Hasto said PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri will determine who will be carried in the 2024 presidential election.

However, before the decision is made, consolidation will continue. If this step has taken place, then when the presidential and vice presidential candidates are determined the party movement can be more effective.

"All the hopes (of the people) can be captured and formulated into political policies. That is the PDI-P's political stance in winning the election," said Hasto.

Therefore, PDIP will not use the tail effect in determining candidates in the 2024 presidential election.

"The total effect is expected to come from the people. The people are actually the leaders of all leaders," concluded Hasto.
