Bareskrim Delegates 9 Suspected Syndicate Of Counterfeit Rupiah And Dollar Circulation To The Jember Prosecutor

JAKARTA - The investigation into the syndicate cases of printing and circulating counterfeit United States (US) dollars in Jakarta and East Java has been completed. The case file is complete.

"The East Java syndicate counterfeit money case, that the investigation and filing of the East Java syndicate counterfeit money case has now been declared complete or P21 by the public prosecutor," said Karo Penmas of the Public Relations Division of the Police Brigadier General Ahmad Ramdhan to reporters, Wednesday, June 22.

Investigators have delegated the authority for evidence and 9 suspects to the Jember District Attorney. The handover took place on June 20.

Some of the evidence handed out included 452,826 pieces of counterfeit Rp100 thousand banknotes, 7 mobile phones, 1 car, 1 machine for printing counterfeit money, paper cutting machine and 1 computer.

All of the evidence was confiscated in three different locations. First, at a hotel in Probolinggo, East Java. Then, at the house of one of the suspects in Jember, East Java.

Then at the Teman Sejati Grafika printing shop, which is the property of the suspect ED alias T in Surabaya, East Java.

Meanwhile, Ramadhan continued, there are three suspects who have not been transferred or stage 2. Because the transfer will only be carried out this week.

"While the suspects on behalf of ED, S and RD will be carried out in phase 2 on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at the Surabaya District Attorney," said Ramadhan.

Previously, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police revealed a syndicate of printing and circulating counterfeit money in Jakarta and East Java. Where, the syndicate counterfeited rupiah and United States dollars (US dollars).

In this case, the police arrested 12 suspects, most of whom were arrested in East Java. They are part of the printing and circulation of counterfeit rupiah.

The suspects in this case are suspected of Article 36 Paragraph (1) and/or Paragraph (2) and/or Paragraph (3) of Law Number 7 of 2011 concerning Currency in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code. They face up to 15 years in prison.
