JAKARTA - A farmer from Cilacap, Central Java named Mamad took part in a demonstration against the Omnibus Law on Cipta Kerja in the Taman Tugu Proklamasi area, Jakarta.

Not only participating in the demonstration against the Omnibus Law on Job Creation, Mamad, who came with his fellow farmers, also gave speeches.

Even though it was difficult for him to speak Indonesian, when giving speeches he explained his anxiety and finally decided to join the action. He admitted to taking part in the action because he was worried about the land he had been working on since 1985.

"I came here to take part in the action because of the land I care for, I worked on in 1985 and there was an Omnibus Law which regulates agrarian reform," said Mamad in an action held on Wednesday, October 28.

Mamad said he was afraid to be removed from the land he had been caring for, with the law.

"I am afraid that it will be removed, my land will then be taken to a foreign party to the private sector. Where will I go to my friends?" he emphasized which was then greeted by applause from the action participants.

He also asked students and workers to remain enthusiastic in fighting for the rejection of the Job Creation Law.

After he finished giving speeches, he then sang a song in Javanese. Hundreds of people who attended, then clapped their hands.

Before Mamad gave a speech, Spokesperson for the Joint Workers Movement (Gebrak), Nining Elitos, said the action with the people's pulpit approach was deliberately taken. Because currently it is a holiday and government offices are closed.

"This pulpit coincides with a holiday, the government offices are closed. We want to show that the actions that have been carried out since yesterday have not stopped," said Nining.

The current situation, at 16.22 WIB, the traffic around the Proclamation Monument, Jakarta, is still smooth from Kramat to Menteng. Meanwhile, the protesters are still listening to speeches from workers' representatives.
