5 Regions In West Java Province Experience An Increase In COVID-19 Cases, Ridwan Kamil Makes Sure It's Still Under Control

BANDUNG - Governor M Ridwan Kamil stated that currently there is an increase in COVID-19 cases in five areas of West Java (Jabar) province, namely Bogor City, Bekasi City, Depok City, Bogor Regency and Bandung City.

"Let's report an increase in COVID-19 cases, especially in five areas, namely Bogor City, Bekasi City, Depok City, Bogor Regency, Bandung City. But it's still within the range of control," he said after the Policy Committee Meeting on COVID-19 Handling and Regional Economic Recovery West Java Province at Gedung Sate Bandung, Antara, Wednesday, June 22.

The controlled COVID-19 cases in West Java, he said, could be seen from the occupancy rate of beds treating COVID-19 patients in hospitals, which was still at one percent.

"The hospital's (BOR for COVID-19 patients) is still at one percent and this (the increase in cases in five areas in West Java) is in line with the proximity to DKI Jakarta, so the pattern is still repeating the same thing," he said.

Therefore, he asked the public to maintain health protocols, especially the COVID-19 vaccination in West Java was very maximal.

"So, according to the Ministry of Health, the endurance of the Indonesian people is above 90 percent," he said. It predicts that the next peak of COVID-19 cases will occur in July 2022.

"The prediction is for the peak next month (July). So the media please report it proportionally. According to scientific calculations, after July it will go down or ramp up again," he said.

He further said that COVID-19 will never go away completely and the pattern of cases will be the same as well as the solution or handling.

"So things like this will accompany, that's why I say COVID-19 will not go away completely, and the pattern of the answer is the same. The vaccination process is still being increased, especially in West Java, doses one and two are approaching 100 percent. The booster vaccine is at 30 percent, indicating the majority of the population. almost 37 million was achieved," said Ridwan Kamil.
