Police Cannot Hold 7 Suspects In AGO Building Fire Case

JAKARTA - Investigators at the General Crime Directorate of Criminal Investigation have decided not to arrest 7 suspects in the fire case of the Attorney General's Office (AGO) building. The decision was taken after the seven underwent an examination.

"All 7 suspects are all cooperative and with the guarantee of lawyers so that the investigator does not detain," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Awi Setiyono to reporters, Wednesday, October 28.

The suspects were questioned for approximately nine hours, on Tuesday, October 27. This examination is the first time they have been named a suspect.

"Seven suspects were investigated from 10.30 WIB to 19.30 WIB," said Awi.

Meanwhile for another suspect, namely NH who is the Commitment Making Officer (PPK) of the AGO. The suspect did not appear at the examination because he was sick.

"As for the other 1 suspect, PPK Kejagung NH, will be recalled on November 2, 2020," he said.

In this case the investigators found new information. The information regarding the name of the company PT APM was borrowed by two people with the initials MAI and SW.

PT APM is a company that is said to have collaborated with the PPK Kejagung regarding the procurement of Top Cleaner cleaning fluids. This liquid is said to be the cause of the fire that burned the building getting bigger.

In this fire case, the National Police named 8 suspects. Five of them are construction workers with the initials T, H, S, K, and IS. They were named suspects for violating the no smoking rule in the personnel bureau hall.

While the other 3 namely, UAM as the foreman, R who is the Director of PT ARM and the Commitment Making Officer (PPK) of the Attorney General's Office, NH.

The assignment of the suspect to UAM was reasoned because he did not supervise the five masons while working. Meanwhile, R and NH were named as suspects for making an agreement to use a top cleaner cleaning fluid which is said to accelerate the combustion process.

The suspects were charged under Article 188 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 and Article 56 of the Criminal Code with the threat of 5 years in prison.
