Current Situation In Horse Statue: Mass Of Tire Burning To Serukan 7 Claims

JAKARTA - A crowd from the Islamic Student Association (HMI) gathered in the area of the Arjuna Wiwaha Horse Statue, Central Jakarta, voicing rejection of the Job Creation Law.

In the middle of the road, next to the roundabout of the fountain in the Horse Statue area, the HMI crowd started burning tires as a sign of protest to the government. Black smoke was billowing in the air.

There were a number of masses from the Federation of Indonesian Various Sector Workers Unions who joined in the action near the ESDM Ministry building.

Not only that, other protesters were at the end of Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat. Students who are members of the HIMA Islamic Student Association (HIMA PERSIS) have called for seven demands to President Joko Widodo.

"This is not only about the Omnibus Law, but also about changes to the system, where democracy has changed at first. It is right now to convey an ultimatum to the failure of the Jokowi-Amin government," exclaimed the orator at the Horse Statue, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, October 28.

Like the previous demonstration, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan was closed since morning. Police officers installed road dividers along with barbed wire on both roads.

Behind the barrier, a number of police officers formed a line while monitoring student action activities. Behind the police line, several barracuda and mass decomposers were prepared.

Here are 7 HIMA PERSIS demands for President Jokowi:

1. Uphold the law and resolve human rights cases

2. Remove the Perppu and remove the Omnibus Law

3. Stop KKN and stop the political oligarchy in Indonesia

4. Stop exploitation and capitalization of natural resources

5. Abolish the capitalization of Indonesian education

6. Stop the apparatus' responsive action

7. Urge the government to focus seriously on tackling COVID-19.
