The Government Adjusts The Pros Of Large-Scale Activities: Second Vaccine For Children, Booster For Adults

JAKARTA - The government has again made policy adjustments regarding the regulation of health protocols in the implementation of large-scale activities following the increase in COVID-19 cases in recent times.

"By looking at the trend of cases starting to increase again as well as the importation of new variants of COVID-19 cases and evaluation of health protocol management, for events involving many people, the government has made adjustments again," said Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Prof. Wiku Adisasmito was quoted by Antara, Tuesday, June 21.

One of the anticipatory measures taken, he said, was to adjust the arrangements for large-scale activities during the COVID-19 pandemic as stated in the SE Task Force Number 22 of 2022.

"SE Task Force Number 22 of 2022 organizes events that are physically attended by more than 1,000 people at the same time and location, both indoors and outdoors," he said.

Through this regulation, children aged 6-17 years who want to attend large events are required to have a second dose of vaccination and adults over 18 years of age are required to have a booster or "booster" vaccination.

Organized events include local activities attended by local, cross-provincial or district participants such as social and cultural community events, as well as international activities attended by inter-state or multilateral participants.

In addition, specific screening is also applied according to the involvement of the type of participant.

"For activities involving ministerial-level officials or VVIP, it is mandatory to require a negative PCR result 2 x 24 hours before the activity takes place," he said.

Meanwhile, multilateral activities that do not involve VVIP are required to apply procedures for checking symptoms of COVID-19 and it is recommended that participants be tested for antigen.

In activities that are not multilateral forums and do not involve VVIP, it is mandatory to carry out symptom screening procedures related to COVID-19.

Regarding the activity licensing mechanism, organizers are required to obtain a recommendation from the central COVID-19 Task Force and a permit from the National Police.
